Linden Gross
Linden
Gross is the author of SURVIVING A STALKER: EVERYTHING
YOU NEED TO KNOW TO KEEP YOURSELF SAFE (Marlowe &
Co., 2000), an updated and expanded version of TO HAVE
OR TO HARM (Warner, 1994), the first book ever written
about the stalking of ordinary people. Her investigation
into the crime of stalking for two Cosmopolitan
magazine articles had previously revealed the devastating
human dimensions of a problem on the rise. Casual conversation
with friends, colleagues, and even strangers on airplanes
had revealed its prevalence in even more immediate fashion.
One out of every three had either been stalked or knew
someone who had. Yet no book had ever tackled the issue.
Gross, who has launched an educational non-profit organization
called Stalking Survivors Sanctuary & Solutions,
is also the creator and founder of the Stalking Victims
Sanctuary website, located at http://www.stalkingvictims.com.
The site features an online support group (the only
national stalking victims' support group in the U.S.),
as well as information about stalking and how to deal
with it. The Stalking Victims Sanctuary,
which averages 3,000 to 5,000 hits a week, has been
adopted by the South Carolina Attorney Generals
Office as an official resource, and has been featured
on MSNBC and CNET.
Gross herself has appeared as a stalking expert on
seven television shows including the Montel Williams
Show, Maury Povich and Inside Edition, as
well as E! and Lifetimes New Attitudes.
Public speaking engagements have included the Los Angeles
and San Diego chapters of ATAP (the Association of Threat
Assessment Professionals). She was the keynote speaker
at Project Sandoval County's 1999 statewide Stalking
& Domestic Violence conference in New Mexico.
