Are you aware that if your telephone
number is listed in Google's database anyone can get
detailed directions to your home? In the age of internet
communications we all know the dangers of this - for
adults and our children! If you have an unlisted number
you will draw a blank.
Go to www.Google.com and
enter your telephone number (separated by hyphens, including
the area code) and click on Google Search. If your phone
number is listed it will show your name, address and
give you two map options: Yahoo and MapQuest. These
will give you a map and step by step directions to your
home.
Google gives you the option of
removing your number. If your number appears in their
database, an icon resembling a telephone will appear
at the upper left next to the first entry on the results
page. Clicking on this option will take you to a page
containing a description of the service, and a link
to request your number be removed from the database.
